LMI Board Member Robert Dail Inducted into DLA Hall of Fame

Richmond, Va., August 19, 2015 — Retired Army Lt. Gen. Robert Dail was inducted into the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Hall of Fame on July 14 for his service as Director of DLA during the height of U.S. military involvement in Afghanistan and Iraq.

“Bob Dail’s induction to DLA’s Hall of Fame is a fitting tribute to his accomplishments as DLA’s Director,” said Jeff Bennett, Senior Vice President of Logistics at LMI. “His commitment to delivering DLA support to the warfighter is unmatched.”

During Dail’s tenure at DLA, the Department of Defense (DoD) completed and implemented the Enterprise Business System, a change that poised Dail to lead institutional transformation and manage a cultural shift for the agency. The system’s introduction improved service to warfighting commands in Afghanistan and Iraq. Dail was also charged with overseeing rapid fielding of Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles during the surge in Iraq in early 2007, and working through Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) implementation that brought additional cultural change to DLA.

“Under his leadership, DLA implemented innovative solutions that improved the reliability of multiple supply chains, increased weapon system availability, and modernized DLA’s information technology tools,” Bennett said. “As an LMI Board member, his dedication to supporting the warfighter, innovation, and continuous process improvement helps guide LMI’s commitment to improving government management.”

The DLA Hall of Fame honors former members of the DLA community who have made significant and enduring contributions to the agency. Membership in the Hall of Fame is open to all former DLA military and civilian personnel regardless of rank or grade.

Dail joined LMI’s Board in 2009. He is the President of Supreme Group, USA, a global logistics services company headquartered in Reston, Virginia. Before joining DLA, he served as the Deputy Commander, U.S. Transportation Command. General Dail has a bachelor’s from the University of Richmond and master’s degrees from Boston University, National Defense University, and United States Army Command and General Staff College.
