Center for Health Reform

We’re focused on answering the question of what happens next with healthcare reform.

The LMI Center for Health Reform is committed to providing government leaders with groundbreaking analysis and direction on the implementation and administration of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA). The Center was founded in 2010 as the latest addition to LMI’s 20-year healthcare practice with the purpose of focusing LMI’s historically strong analytic expertise on implementation of the new legislation. To leverage that expertise, LMI has assembled the foremost thought leaders in the fields of healthcare reform, actuarial science, and insurance regulation to provide their knowledge in solving these unique challenges.

Through its independent research and development program, the Center explores and assesses bold new models, methods, and practices for advancing government management and leadership of healthcare. Through articles, reports, and presentations at symposiums and conferences, it aims to shape thinking about emerging and perennial government healthcare management issues.

The Center offers guidance in the following areas:

  • Health insurance exchanges
  • Risk adjustment
  • Accountable care organizations
  • High-risk pools
  • Insurance regulation and monitoring
  • Health cooperatives
  • Retiree reinsurance programs
  • Transitional reinsurance programs
