Program Management Support

Whether we're there for the short term or in for the long haul, LMI sets our client's programs on the path to success.

Effective program management is a critical and highly specialized competency. Program managers must maintain a delicate balance of scope, schedule, cost, and risk while working to meet goals, typically across multiple projects at the same time.

LMI has long been a trusted source of program management expertise for the government. We can provide targeted counsel or work side by side with a client’s project management office staff over the long term. For example, for the U.S. Capitol Police, LMI initially defined requirements for modernizing its financial management system and then provided ongoing support during implementation through independent verification and validation (IV&V), review of project deliverables, and briefings to senior management on suggested improvements to the implementation. Our work helped make sure the system delivered met the initial requirements.

Whether we work on a program from start to finish or supplement existing resources in individual phases of the program life cycle, LMI’s presence “in the cockpit” provides a significant measure of assurance that the program will stay on course.

LMI’s program management capabilities include the following:

  • Developing an acquisition strategy
  • Providing sections for a request for information or a request for proposal
  • Defining functional and technical requirements
  • Supporting evaluation of alternatives
  • Planning and conducting software acceptance testing
  • Performing IV&V that software meets requirements as it is implemented
  • Performing special studies and analysis for financial management
  • Conducting earned value, “what if,” and trend analysis
  • Performing quality assurance reviews of deliverables.
