Logistics Systems

Enterprise-level systems that combine renowned logistics expertise and state-of-the-art IT.

Many companies can do IT well. But none can do logistics like LMI can. And, when we bring the two disciplines together through our logistics modernization offering, we build new bridges between the enterprise’s functions and the IT that enables them. The result is a more agile enterprise than ever before.

Unique functional experience and an independent outlook

Founded more than five decades ago as a government resource and operating as a not for profit, LMI has always been driven by how we can best serve the unique needs of our government civilian and Department of Defense clients. We pair this tremendous functional knowledge of government and DoD business processes with highly disciplined systems engineering processes that lower the risk and dramatically raise the value gained from logistics modernization.

The right people and the right support

Many of LMI’s seasoned experts served in the military for years before beginning their private sector careers with us. Now, they contribute their unique DoD subject matter knowledge in areas such as planning, programing, budget, and execution; cost analyses; information assurance; and more. Backed further by effective communications and change management strategies, LMI’s logistics modernization programs meet policy milestones and regulatory environment requirements while effectively managing the complexity of large-scale systems implementation. LMI’s rare combination of DoD contextual understanding, expertise, and not-for-profit neutrality puts our clients’ massive enterprise programs on track, right from the beginning.

More than 15 years of success for the U.S. Army

For over 15 years, LMI has supported U.S. Army Program Executive Officer Enterprise Information Systems (PEO EIS), assisting program managers in meeting and exceeding their mission milestones. We currently provide program management and life-cycle support for Global Combat Support System (GCSS) Army, the Army’s primary tactical logistics system and one of the largest, most complex ERP implementations in the world. We also support the Army ERP Hub, Army Enterprise Integration Program (AESIP), Logistics Modernization Program (LMP), General Fund Enterprise Business Systems (GFEBS), DoD Biometrics, Automated Movement and Identification Solutions (AMIS), Power Projection Enablers (P2E), Installation Information Infrastructure Communications and Capabilities (I3C2), Sustainment System Mission Command (S2MC), and Army Logistics Innovation Agency.

Thorough understanding yields real savings from the outset

Through LMI’s depth of domain expertise and technical acumen we assisted GCSS-Army advance through its system life cycle from initial requirements to fielding and transition to sustainment. We were able to identify and address critical design changes early, avoiding millions of dollars of potential rework. We implemented tools and methods that saved time and reduced the resources required to provide quality assurance for the solution. LMI’s in-depth technical knowledge of SAP, systems design, and architecture—together with our thorough understanding of DoD policies, doctrine, organizations, and force structure—has enabled the PMO to successfully implement a complex, federated SAP software solution.

Supporting the selection and adoption of new technology

LMI also has been instrumental to the General Services Administration’s (GSA’s) move toward a new cloud-based business model for delivering supply chain services. We helped develop the business case and provided up-front strategic planning, requirements development, acquisition support, and financial analysis that guided GSA in selecting and adopting the appropriate technology solutions. As the new system is being fielded, LMI continues to provide program management, independent verification and validation, and planning for future development.

LMI’s logistics modernization capabilities run the gamut from development to deployment to sustainment. We bring together all the pieces that make core enterprise systems deliver more value while lowering the risk of implementation.
