William S. Norman Named Chairman of LMI Board of Trustees

Distinguished public servant and business leader assumes leadership role

McLean, Virginia, December 13, 2004—LMI, a private, nonprofit corporation dedicated to improving public-sector management, announced the selection of Mr. William S. Norman as the new LMI Board Chairman, replacing retiring Chairman Charles J. DiBona, a Trustee since 1989 and Chairman since 1993.

Mr. Norman joined LMI’s Board of Trustees in 1993. He is the former President and Chief Executive Officer of the Travel Industry Association of America. He was previously Executive Vice President of the National Railroad passenger Corporation (Amtrak), and former Vice President (Eastern Division), Cummins Engine Company, Inc. He began his career as a mathematics teacher. After receiving his commission as a U.S. Navy officer, he taught at the U.S. Naval Academy, and earned numerous military decorations, including three Air Medals and the Legion of Merit.

Mr. Norman serves on the board of directors of many public and private organizations, including the U.S. Navy Memorial Foundation, West Virginia Wesleyan College, Hospitality Industry Hall of Honor and Archives, National Park Service Concession Management Advisory Board, and the Travel Industry Association of America.

Mr. Norman has been an active and dynamic influence on the Board and will now lead an illustrious group of Trustees with high-level experience and recognized reputations in government, business, industry, and academia, in governing LMI. Under Mr. Norman’s leadership, the Board provides broad policy guidance, reviews and approves strategy, and exercises final authority over LMI business affairs.
