MCLEAN, Va., January 23, 2007—After a distinguished career at the Department of State, George E. Moose recently joined LMI as a Senior Fellow. He holds the title of Career Ambassador, the highest rank in the U.S. Foreign Service. His service included appointments as ambassador to Benin (1983–86) and Senegal (1988–91), as Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs (1993-97), and as Permanent Representative to the UN in Geneva (1998-2001). Ambassador Moose is an adjunct professor and professor lecturer in international policy and practice at the Elliott School of International Affairs, The George Washington University.
At LMI, he will serve as a mentor to the staff for business activities related to the State Department and general civil sector. In particular, he will be exploring business development opportunities in international health.
LMI periodically adds individuals to its staff who have a record of distinguished government service in civil agencies or the military services. These senior fellows have a background in particular organizations or communities and offer a senior-level perspective on the functions and processes of certain segments of government. They assist the staff in many valuable ways, such as focusing an argument, validating an approach, or verifying the logic of a conclusion.
