MCLEAN, Va., July 13, 2007 - The LMI Research Institute and Military Operations Research Society announced the joint publication of Methods for Conducting Military Operational Analysis, a long overdue reference for practitioners in this field. Adm. Donald L. Pilling, CEO of LMI, said “This book is a valuable reference for military analysts. Bringing together multiple analytic methods and emphasizing their interrelationships will help future analysts choose the best techniques and ultimately produce better decisions for our national security.”
For more than three years, 45 authors have collaborated on this book, which was edited by Andrew G. Topics covered include theater campaign analysis, smaller scale contingencies, support to the combatant commander, force structure, acquisition, C4ISR, strategic mobility, logistics, and many others. The editors emphasize the interrelation of these analyses and attempt to provide a balanced view of analytical methods employed by the various services.
MORS President Jack Keane of the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory said, “This outstanding publication provides decision makers and problem solvers in government, academia, and industry with a comprehensive overview of the wide-ranging set of methodologies that combine to form the basis of operations research as they pertain to the spectrum of military operations, from requirements engineering to winning America's wars."
