NEWSLMI Announces Three New Members of Board of Trustees
MCLEAN, Va., January 9, 2008—LMI announces the addition of three new members to its Board of Trustees—the Honorable Jonathan B. Perlin, M.D., the Honorable Alice C. Maroni, and Mr. Michael A. Daniels.
Dr. Jonathan Perlin is the Chief Medical Officer and Senior Vice President of Quality for the Hospital Corporation of America (HCA). Before joining HCA in 2006, Dr. Perlin was Under Secretary for Health at the Department of Veterans Affairs. He joined the VA in 1999 and also served as Chief Quality and Performance Officer, Acting Chief Research and Development Officer, and Deputy Under Secretary for Health. Before joining the VA, he was the Medical Director for Quality Improvement at the Medical College of Virginia Hospitals–Virginia Commonwealth University Health System. A Fellow of the American College of Physicians, Dr. Perlin has a Master of Science degree in health administration. He received his doctorate in pharmacology and toxicology with his M.D. as part of the Medical Scientist Training Program at Virginia Commonwealth University’s Medical College of Virginia.
Since 2000, Alice Maroni has been the Chief Financial Officer of the Smithsonian Institution. Before joining the Smithsonian, she served in the Department of Defense as the Principal Deputy Under Secretary of Defense (Comptroller) and as the Acting Under Secretary of Defense (Comptroller). Before coming to the Pentagon in 1992, Ms. Maroni was a professional staff member of the House Armed Services Committee. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Mount Holyoke College in 1975 and was awarded a master’s degree from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University in 1978. She is a graduate of the National War College (1989) and Harvard University’s Program for Senior Executives in National and International Security (1991).
Michael Daniels is a director at Sybase. Before that appointment, he was chairman of the board and CEO of Mobile 365. From 1986 to 2004, Mr. Daniels served as a Senior Vice President and Sector Manager at SAIC. He led a number of successful acquisitions, including that of Network Solutions, Inc., where he served as chairman of the board and CEO. Mr. Daniels led the Network Solutions merger with VeriSign, Inc., and served on VeriSign’s board of directors. Active in community and industry affairs, Mr. Daniels has served as chairman of the Northern Virginia Technology Council and on the Governor's Information Technology Commission for the Commonwealth of Virginia. He has also served as advisor to the White House National Security Council, U.S. National Commissioner to UNESCO, and member of the U.S. Trade Representative’s International Investment Policy Advisory Committee.
