NEWSHHS Awards LMI and Brookings Grant to Advance Health Information Technology Work in the Private Sector
MCLEAN, Va., January 22 – Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Mike Leavitt announced today, during a meeting of the American Health Information Community (AHIC), that LMI, a not-for-profit government consulting firm, teamed with The Brookings Institution, has been awarded a cooperative agreement to transition the AHIC to a self-sustaining, public-private partnership based in the private sector. Full transition to the AHIC’s successor (AHIC 2.0) is expected to be completed by December 2008. The LMI–Brookings team will work together to create a comprehensive approach that will combine LMI’s project management expertise and Brookings’ technical and policy leadership.
