SOLE Recognizes LMI’s Julie Smith

McLean, VA, December 29, 2009—The Greater Washington Area Chapter of SOLE, the International Society of Logistics, presented LMI’s Julie Smith its 2009 award for Logistics Analysis in recognition of her leadership and outstanding initiative in service parts management, which contributed to the advancement of the goals and objectives of the logistics profession. Smith has made a unique and lasting contribution to U.S. national security through her efforts in applying modern inventory management techniques to the challenges of weapon system service parts management.

The qualifications that earned this recognition stem from her experience in systems modeling, operations analysis, and computer programming, as well as her unflagging support to her clients in the aerospace and defense communities. She has significantly contributed to the service parts management and provisioning of our nation’s most critical weapon systems by applying modern readiness-based sparing (RBS) techniques to the sparing process.

Since joining LMI, Smith has supported the Supply Management Modeling, Simulation, and Systems Office for Lockheed Martin Aeronautics, the specialty engineering logisticians of the General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, and the U.S. Air Force with RBS analyses.

LMI, a not-for-profit firm headquartered in McLean, Virginia, has served the government since 1961, seeking to improve agency management through independent analysis and counsel in logistics, infrastructure, and resource management.
