LMI ANNUAL REPORT
Our 2007 Annual Report highlights our accomplishments in achieving our mission—to improve management of the nation’s public sector through research, analysis, and counsel—and strengthening our value to our nation’s managers. Also, our feature article, “America’s Healthcare Prospects: It Costs Too Much and Delivers Too Little”, offers insights into a critical domestic policy issue which will have far-reaching implications for the well being of our citizens, operating budgets at every level of government, and mission accomplishment for all departments and agencies.
This year we undertook projects of greater scope, complexity, and consequence throughout government, continuing our trend of improvement and growth. This annual report highlights our accomplishments in expanding our functional areas, better integrating our diverse disciplines, heightening our role in thought leadership, and encouraging the sharing of best practices among agencies. By every measure, 2007 continued a trend of improvement and growth. We were recognized for a third consecutive time as one of the great places to work in the Washington metropolitan area, and we received a prestigious national award recognizing extraordinary achievement in employee benefits. The LMI Research Institute thrived—overseeing our internal research and development program, hosting Executive Forums, expanding our Visiting Scholar program, and sponsoring The Public Manager, a quarterly journal for public-sector practitioners.
Nothing could be more satisfying that reporting on the progress our government clients have made with our assistance. We remain committed to the ideal that public service remains one of the noblest of callings and to the mandate that we deliver the insights, perspectives, and unbiased, trusted advice our clients need to reach decisions that make a difference.
