Our Board of Trustees consists of the following members:

Mr. William S. Norman
Mr. Norman joined LMI’s Board of Trustees in 1993 and was elected Chairman in 2005. He is the former President and Chief Executive Officer of the Travel Industry Association of America. He was previously Executive Vice President of the National Railroad Passenger Corporation (Amtrak), and former Vice President (Eastern Division), Cummins Engine Company, Inc. He began his career as a mathematics teacher. After receiving his commission as a U.S. Navy officer, he taught at the U.S. Naval Academy, and earned numerous military decorations, including three Air Medals and the Legion of Merit. He holds the rank of Captain, U.S. Navy (Ret.).
Mr. Norman is Lead Director of Corn Products International, Inc. and also serves on the board of directors of many public and private organizations, including the U.S. Navy Memorial Foundation, West Virginia Wesleyan College, Hospitality Industry Hall of Honor and Archives, and the Travel Industry Association of America.
He has a Bachelor of Science in chemistry and mathematics from West Virginia Wesleyan College and a Master of Arts from the American University. He also completed the postgraduate Executive Program at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business and is the recipient of an honorary doctorate degree.

The Honorable Douglas Bereuter
Mr. Bereuter joined LMI’s Board of Trustees in 2005. He is the current President of The Asia Foundation and a former U.S. Representative from Nebraska. Mr. Bereuter served 13 terms in the U.S. House of Representatives and was a leading member of the House International Relations Committee for 20 years, where he served as vice chairman for six years and as chairman of the Asia & Pacific Subcommittee and Europe Subcommittee. For almost 10 years he served on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, retiring as its vice chairman. Mr. Bereuter also served on the House Financial Services Committee for 24 years and for 16 years chaired or served as ranking minority member of its Subcommittee on International Institutions. He concluded his Congressional career by serving two years as the President of the prominent NATO Parliamentary Assembly headquarters in Brussels.
He currently serves on the Visiting Committee for Harvard’s John F. Kennedy School of Government, and was the first elected official to receive the Kennedy School’s Outstanding Alumni Award. Prior to being elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, Mr. Bereuter served as a Nebraska State Senator.
Mr. Bereuter graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Nebraska and has Masters Degrees from Harvard University in both city planning and public administration. |

Mr. Daniel P. Burnham
Mr. Burnham joined LMI’s Board in 2003. He is the former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Raytheon Company; and former Vice Chairman and Member of the Board of Directors of AlliedSignal, Inc.
Mr. Burnham is Chairman of the National Minority Supplier Development Council, a member and past Chairman of the President’s National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee, a member and past Chairman of the Aerospace Industries Association, and a member of The Business Council, among other affiliations.
He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from Xavier University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of New Hampshire. Mr. Burnham has honorary degrees from Pepperdine University and Bentley College. |

Lieutenant General Robert T. Dail (Retired)
General Dail joined LMI’s Board in 2009. He is the former Director of the Defense Logistics Agency, which is responsible for providing the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps and other federal agencies with a variety of logistics, acquisition and technical services in peace and war. Prior to coming to DLA, he was the deputy commander, U.S. Transportation Command at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois.
He has commanded transportation units at every level, from platoon to corps, across the full range of Army combat capabilities. His operational commends include the Division Support Command, 82d Airborne Division, Ft. Bragg, NC; the 324th Support Battalion, and others.
General Dail graduated from the University of Richmond with a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration. He also hold Masters Degrees from Boston University, the national Defense University, and the United States Army Command and General Staff College. |

Mr. Michael A. Daniels
Mr. Daniels joined LMI’s Board in 2007. He is former Chairman of Network Solutions, former Chairman and CEO of Mobile365, and former Chairman of the Northern Virginia Technology Counsel.
Mr. Daniels is a former Senior Vice President of SAIC where he identified and purchased Network Solutions and led that company through one of the largest technology equity offerings in history. In 2005, he was selected as Chairman of the Board of Mobile365. He worked closely with the CEO and executive management team to build the company. He served as the Chairman and CEO beginning in December, 2005. In November, 2006, Mobile365 was sold to Sybase.
Mr. Daniels has served with the Defense Advance Research Projects Agency (DARPA) of the U.S. Department of Defense, on the United States Trade Representatives International Investment Policy Advisory Commission, as a U.S. National Commissioner for UNESCO, as a senior White House Advisor on International Technology and as a senior advisor to the National Security Council.

The Honorable Nelson m. ford
Mr. Ford joined the Board of Trustees in January 2009 concurrently with being appointed LMI’s eleventh president. He is the former Under Secretary of the Army. Previous to this position, he was the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Financial Management and Comptroller. From 2005 to 2006, he served as Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army for Financial Management and Comptroller. From 2002 through 2004, he was Deputy Assistant Secretary for Health Budgets & Financial Policy in the Department of Defense.
Prior to returning to Federal service, Mr. Ford held senior management positions in academic medicine, medical manufacturing and health insurance. From 1997 to 2000, he was President and CEO of Clinipad, a manufacturer of disposable medical products. During the 1990's, he was Chief Operating Officer of Georgetown University Medical Center, with responsibility for Georgetown Hospital and financial oversight of faculty practice plans, research activities and the medical and nursing schools.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Ford was a partner with Coopers & Lybrand, providing strategic and financial consulting services to a wide range of healthcare clients. He was the Executive Secretary of the Health Care Financing Administration and worked on health policy matters in the Office of Management and Budget.
Mr. Ford holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Duke University, a master’s in education from the University of Delaware and has completed additional professional training at the University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Steven Kelman
Steve Kelman is the Weatherhead Professor of Public Management at Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government. A summa cum laude graduate of Harvard College, with a Ph.D. in government from Harvard University, he is the author of many books and articles on the policymaking process and on improving the management of government organizations. His new book, Unleashing Change: A Study of Organizational Change in Government, was published in June 2005 by the Brookings Institution Press. His other books include a study on how to improve the government computer procurement process, entitled Procurement and Public Management: The Fear of Discretion and the Quality of Government Performance (AEI Press, 1990), and Making Public Policy: A Hopeful View of American Government (Basic Books, 1987). In 1996 he was elected a Fellow of the National Academy of Public Administration. In 2001, he received the Herbert Roback Memorial Award, the highest achievement award of the National Contract Management Association. In 2003 he was elected as a Director of The Procurement Roundtable. He currently serves as editor of the International Public Management Journal.
From 1993 through 1997, Dr. Kelman served as Administrator of the Office of Federal Procurement Policy in the Office of Management and Budget (OMB). During his tenure as Administrator, he played a lead role in the Administration’s reinventing government effort. He led Administration efforts in support of the Federal Acquisition Streamlining Act of 1994 and the Federal Acquisition Reform Act of 1995

The Honorable Kenneth J. Krieg
Mr. Krieg joined LMI’s Board of Trustees in December 2008. Mr. Krieg runs Samford Global Strategies. He is the former Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics. In that position he advised the Secretary and Deputy Secretary of Defense on all matters relating to the Department of Defense Acquisition System, research and development, advanced technology, developmental test and evaluation production, logistics, installation management, military construction, procurement, environmental security, nuclear, chemical, and biological matters.
Before his appointment to USD (AT&L), Mr. Krieg served as Special Assistant to the Secretary and Director for Program Analysis & Evaluation at DoD, and was executive secretary of the Senior Executive Council. Prior to his DoD affiliations, he worked for International Paper for 11 year, most recently as Vice President and General Manager of the Office and Consumer Paper Division. Before moving to industry, Mr. Krieg worked in a number of defense and foreign policy assignments, including positions at the White House.
Mr. Krieg received his BA degree in history from Davidson College and his Masters in Public Policy from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.

The Honorable Alice C. Maroni
Ms. Maroni joined LMI’s Board in 2007. She is the Chief Financial Officer of the Smithsonian Institution and has authority and responsibility for the planning, oversight, management and stability of all financial activities relating to programs and operations of the Smithsonian.
She is a former Principal Deputy Under Secretary of Defense (Comptroller) and has more than 20 year of experience in budgeting and finance. She twice served as the acting Under Secretary of Defense and was a professional staff member of the House Armed Services Committee.
Ms. Maroni graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Mount Holyoke College and received a master’s degree from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University. She is a graduate of the National War College. |

Ms. Patricia McGinnis
Ms. McGinnis joined LMI’s Board in 2004. She is the former President and CEO of the nonpartisan, not-for-profit Council for Excellence in Government. The Council’s mission is to improve the performance of government at all levels and to increase citizen confidence and participation. Before coming to the Council, Ms. McGinnis was a co-founder and Principal of the FMR Group, a public affairs consulting firm in Washington, D.C. She has served on numerous committees and boards, including the Dean’s Alumni Leadership Council of the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard, and the Board of Visitors of the University of Maryland School of Public Affairs. She is a fellow of the National Academy of Public Administration.
Ms. McGinnis holds a Bachelor of Arts in political science form Mary Washington College of the University of Virginia and a Master of Public Administration from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. |

The Honorable Jonathan B. Perlin, M.D.
Jonathan Perlin, MD, PhD, MSHA, FACP, FACMI, joined the LMI Board in 2007. He is the Chief Medical Officer and President, Clinical Services for Nashville-based HCA, the nation’s largest private healthcare system.
Before joining HCA, Dr. Perlin served as Under Secretary for Health in the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs for the Veterans Health Administration (VHA), the nation’s largest integrated health system. Prior roles in VHA included serving as the Deputy Under Secretary, Acting Chief of Research and Development, and Chief Quality and Performance Officer. Dr. Perlin had previously served as Medical Director for Quality Improvement at the Medical College of Virginia Hospitals.
He received his Ph.D. with his M.D. as part of the Medical Scientist Training Program at Virginia Commonwealth University’s Medical College of Virginia, where he subsequently earned a Masters of Science in Health Administration. The recipient of numerous awards for leadership in government and healthcare, Dr. Perlin is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and the American College of Medical Informatics. |

Lieutenant General Robert F. Raggio, USAF (Retired)
Lt Gen Raggio joined LMI’s Board in 2002. He was Executive Vice President of Dayton Aerospace. Prior to that, he commanded the Aeronautical Systems Center, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. As Commander he led the Air Force’s Center for Excellence for Development and Acquisition of Aerospace Systems. Lt Gen Raggio entered the Air Force in 1966 as a distinguished graduate of the Montana State University Reserve Officer Training Corps program. He flew more than 150 combat rescue missions in the HH-43 helicopter from bases in Vietnam and Thailand. He has also served in the Air Force Office of Legislative Liaison and directed the acquisition of several aircraft systems.
Lt Gen Raggio has a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from Montana State University and a Master of Science in industrial engineering from Purdue University.
