Protecting Americans from Bioterrorism

LMI is a strategic partner with the Department of Homeland Security in standing up the BioWatch Systems Program Office. BioWatch, an early warning system to detect the airborne release of biological agents, is a 24/7 operational ability to detect, mitigate, respond to, and recover from a bioterrorist event.

We developed quality assurance measures to improve system performance related to the collection, tracking, and analysis of air samples, and we streamlined the supply chain essential to maintaining the filters, testing, materials, and labs. We used our proprietary Performance Risk Assessment MethodTM to find performance and cost risks. We identified technical requirements to improve the effectiveness, scalability, long-term operations, and maintenance of the data integration solution. We provided on-site integration of field laboratory and response personnel, including state and local governments, DHS, EPA, CDC, FBI, and the national laboratories. Our health experts assisted local health professionals with emergency response planning. LMI continues to play an integral role in this vital national security system, improving its effectiveness, accuracy, and efficient expansion.
