LIFE-CYCLE SYSTEM DEVELOPMENT AND SUPPORTCapabilitiesWe help government agencies design, develop, and implement solutions that provide immediate return on investment. Our cross-functional teams understand government business and how to effectively apply technology to improve performance. What distinguishes us is our ability to combine functional expertise (such as human capital, healthcare, logistics, and financial management) with technological acumen to create effective, long-standing, affordable solutions for our clients. Not an end unto itself, information technology (IT) must support functional and organizational management. Our core capabilities include the following:
We use structured approaches to managing all phases of the software development life cycle to deliver systems on time, within budget, and compliant with federal mandates. We develop, host, and maintain numerous government websites, and we have significant expertise in the following:
CLIENTS AND SOLUTIONSOne of the challenges federal managers face is ensuring that technology effectively supports business needs, but just keeping up with technology advances is difficult. Over the next few years, many new and innovative technological changes are on the horizon that will affect how the government does business. To help federal managers meet that challenge, LMI stays on top of promising technologies and recommends and implements them when they add value.
USPS—Creating Safety Tool Kit We designed and developed the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) national safety system, which is credited with reducing safety inspection times and, in turn, workplace injuries. Using handheld data collection and web-based reporting tools, USPS inspectors and managers have greatly improved the management and oversight of more than 30,000 operations.
OSHA—Developing Enterprise System LMI was recently awarded a large contract with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) at the Department of Labor to develop a new information system to replace the agency’s 15-year old Integrated Management Information System. LMI will play a vital role in this critically needed, multiyear effort to overhaul and upgrade the entire data system that OSHA uses to track its inspections and program activities. The new information system will ensure OSHA’s ability to measure results and provide accurate and timely information on all its enforcement and compliance assistance programs. When completed by LMI, the OSHA Information System (OIS) will feature innovative, powerful analytical tools to help identify injury, illness, and fatality trends locally and nationwide.
DoD—Managing Health Sector Assets We designed, developed, and deployed a comprehensive solution to capture asset information to support the Defense Critical Infrastructure Program (DCIP) Health Sector. Working through each capability area, the Health Sector characterizes its assets via the Primary Health Assets Staging Tool (PHAST). The PHAST is an interface and database dedicated to the collection and storage of Health Sector asset information.
HHS—Facilitating Applications For the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), we developed a web-based Online Induction for New Hires application, which allows preprocessing and approval of required employee forms before employee arrival on the job. New employees access required forms through the web and submit the information to the Human Resources office, greatly reducing the time required for in-processing.
Department of State—Developing Human Resource Applications We provide the Department of State Human Resources Office of Resource, Management, and Organization Analysis expertise in the areas of project management, data collection and integration, statistical analysis, mathematical modeling, workforce flow, and system development. New development consists of enhanced data collection or reporting capabilities, improved analytical components, or integration with other State Department models or programs. LMI also provides ongoing operational maintenance support that consists of minor and major enhancements to existing models. |
