MAINTENANCE MANAGEMENTCapabilitiesLMI helps civil and military agencies in the activities needed to keep weapon systems, equipment fleets, and other equipment and parts inventories in optimum operable condition. We are particularly adept in the following areas:
CLIENTS AND SOLUTIONSOffice of Corrosion Policy and Oversight—Reducing $20 Billion in Corrosion Costs Corrosion costs the Department of Defense (DoD) up to $20 billion annually and hinders readiness by degrading weapon systems, equipment, and infrastructure. LMI is a strategic partner with DoD in developing and implementing an aggressive, integrated program for evaluating, mitigating, and preventing corrosion. Among a range of activities in which we are involved is developing detailed corrosion cost and cause information to enable DoD to reduce costs and improve weapon system readiness and availability.
DoD—Leveraging Information on Repairable Components The majority of the tens of millions of repairable weapon system parts today cannot be serially managed because they are not uniquely marked and necessary automated information systems capabilities do not exist. We developed conceptual, programmatic, and implementation guidance for employing unique item identification processes within the DoD maintenance enterprise, starting with the depot community. Effective serialized parts management will enable the maintenance community to leverage the wealth of information that is routinely generated about each part throughout its life.
OADUSD (MR&MP)—Modeling the Weapon System Sustainment Value Stream DoD needed a modeling capability that assesses alternative logistics strategies to achieve optimal materiel readiness at the warfighter level. For the Office of the Assistant Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Materiel Readiness and Maintenance Policy, OADUSD(MR&MP), LMI refined and integrated a suite of analytical tools to allow logistics planners and programmers to model current weapon system readiness conditions and evaluate the effects of changes to factors such as reliability, cycle time, and sparing strategy. The Weapon System Sustainment Value Stream Model simulates a wide range of logistics operations to develop optimized availability solutions.
DoD Maintenance Symposium and Exhibition Supporting the development of DoD maintenance programs and initiatives, LMI has been a consistent sponsor and exhibitor at the annual DoD Maintenance Symposium. For additional information, please visit their official web site.
