The LMI Research Institute is dedicated to advancing the science of government management. Introduced in 2004, the Research Institute is a center of innovation that seeks to produce breakthrough ideas for achieving revolutionary progress in public administration. Staffed by accomplished researchers from diverse analytical and technical backgrounds, the Research Institute and its staff collaborate with an extended network of analytical and functional experts from government, industry, and academia. The Research Institute strives to add rigor, precision, and greater predictability to all aspects of government decision making.

Research Institute staff are deployed on tasks requiring analytical or technical ingenuity. In addition, it pursues work in three areas: (1) innovation and invention, (2) thought leadership, and (3) outreach. Through its independent research and development program, the Research Institute explores bold new models, methods, and practices for advancing government management. Through articles, reports, and presentations at symposiums and conferences, it aims to shape thinking regarding emerging and perennial government management issues. Finally, through its outreach efforts, largely represented by its executive forums, the Research Institute brings together top leaders and thinkers from government, academia, and industry to address the most pressing challenges facing government managers.
