BioWatch Contract Support Team receives Under Secretary’s Award for Outstanding Contract Support

McLean, Virginia, December 16, 2005 — The BioWatch Contract Support Team, which includes LMI, The Tauri Group, and SRS received the Under Secretary’s Award for Outstanding Contract Support from the Department of Homeland Security. The BioWatch mission is to deploy, sustain and maintain a national 24/7 operational ability to detect, mitigate, respond to and recover from a bioterrorist event. BioWatch is an early warning system designed to detect the intentional release of select aerosolized biological agents.

The Under Secretary’s Award recognizes the professional, technical and administrative accomplishments of companies that made substantial contributions to the Science and Technology Directorate mission. Awardees were selected on the basis of the importance of the specific accomplishments; efficiency, effectiveness, and economy of operations resulting from their contributions; customer satisfaction; and personal initiative and ingenuity.

The BioWatch Contract Support Team is recognized for the outstanding support it has provided to the BioWatch Systems Program Office. Mr. Ray Gordon, BioWatch Contract Support Team representative, led the effort to establish the BioWatch System Program Office. The BioWatch Contract Support Team, under Mr. Gordon’s leadership, established the workspace for the Systems Program Office in Alexandria, Va., on an accelerated basis. This workplace has enhanced the ability of federal and contractor employees from various organizations to exchange information and ideas.
