newsRichard Turner Promoted to Program Manager Will lead LMI’s support to the U.S. Transportation Command at Fairview Heights Office
McLean, Virginia, March 22, 2006—Adm. Donald L. Pilling, CEO of LMI, announced the promotion of Richard Turner to Program Manager in the Logistics Technology Directorate. Mr. Turner has more than 35 years of experience in Department of Defense (DoD) transportation and logistics operations and their automated support. His new work program encompasses several tasks with the U. S. Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM) conducting and managing business process improvement and DoD distribution transformation initiatives.
Mr. Turner joined LMI in March 2000 and has worked as a member of the core team in managing the strategic distribution management initiatives that addressed improvements in the USTRANSCOM and Defense Logistics Agency touch points in the supply chain. Since September 2003, he has been a project leader in LMI’s on-site support at USTRANSCOM for the assignment and evolution of the distribution process owner responsibilities assigned to the Commander, USTRANSCOM, by the Secretary of Defense.
Before joining LMI, Mr. Turner served in the Air Force for 20 years as an Air Force transportation officer, retiring in 1989. His last active duty assignment was as chief of the Military Transportation Management Command operations center. He then worked for SRA for five years, leading a project to develop the Joint Operation and Planning Execution System. He also worked for MITRE for five years in support of the Joint Transportation Corporate Information Management Center, contributing to the development of the Defense Transportation System enterprise and data architectures.
