newsDr. Michael Canes Addresses Conference at Princeton University Conference looks at domestic energy policy and uncertainties in the Middle East.
McLean, Virginia, April 30, 2006—Dr. Michael Canes, a senior research fellow at LMI, participated in a conference on Energy, Security and the Middle East at Princeton University on April 21. The conference was sponsored by the Princeton Program in Near Eastern Studies and the Princeton Environmental Institute. The conference examined the extent to which domestic energy policy can reduce U.S. exposure to the uncertainties of Middle Eastern politics. Dr. Canes was a part ofa panel discussion on Domestic Sources of Middle East Policy. He participated in a similar conference at Princeton a year ago, which examined the political and economicimplications of the peaking of world oil production.
Dr. Canes joined LMI in 2000 as a senior research fellow in the Energy and Environment group. In addition to supporting tasks at LMI, Dr. Canes helps to manage the independent research and development program for the LMI Research Institute. Before joining LMI, he was vice president and chief economist of the American Petroleum Institute.
