EVENTSLMI Celebrates 45th Anniversary on October 5 Honoring the past and preparing for the future.
McLean, Virginia, September 25, 2006—On Thursday, Oct. 5, LMI will celebrate its 45th anniversary at corporate headquarters in McLean, Va.
For these 45 years, LMI has served as a trusted advisor, first to the Department of Defense and now to most federal agencies. As a not-for-profit company, it provides independent perspectives, ideas, analyses, and solutions—free of political bias and commercial pressures. Regarding the importance of this anniversary, Adm. Donald L. Pilling, CEO, said, “This day represents a significant milestone in our history and a momentous next step on our quest to becoming the best government consulting firm serving our government clients.”
Formed in 1961 during the Kennedy administration, LMI was the organization proposed by Secretary of Defense Robert S. McNamara for “solving a number of highly complex problems of long standing” in logistics, procurement, and relations with the Defense industry. Today, LMI still operates the world’s most advanced logistics consulting group, but also provides world-class expertise in five other mission areas: acquisition, facilities and asset management, financial management, information and technology, and organizations and human capital. In 2004, LMI also established the LMI Research Institute, a cutting-edge research and development center dedicated to advancing the science of government management.
The anniversary celebration will begin at 3:30 p.m. with remarks from Mr. Bill Norman, Chairman of the LMI Board of Trustees.Next, Mr. Norm Betaque, former LMI Vice President, will offer a brief historical perspective of the organization. Adm. Pilling will conclude the program with his vision of LMI’s future.
