NEWSLMI Employees Receive Logistician Awards F. Michael Slay and Robert Kline honored by International Society of Logistics
MCLEAN, Va., November 7, 2006 — F. Michael Slay and Robert Kline received Field Awards from the Greater Washington Area Chapter of SOLE—The International Society of Logistics—at the Ninth Annual Logistics Awards Luncheon held October 25 at the Fort Myer Officers’ Club. Field Awards recognize technical achievement and professional experience in, and contributions to, a given specialty of logistics. They are given to individuals or small teams from industry, government, or academic institutions in the Greater Washington area. Mr. Slay’s award is for Logistics Research and Development and Mr. Kline’s award is for Provisioning.
On the LMI research staff since 1977, Mr. Slay is a member of the Supply Chain Management group, specializing in building logistics models and solving inventory theory problems. A member of the same group, Mr. Kline joined LMI in 1986 and has been involved in research programs in logistics capability assessment and materiel management policy.
LMI is a not-for-profit government consulting firm established in 1961 at the behest of Secretary of Defense Robert S. McNamara. Best known for its logistics expertise, LMI’s work now includes acquisition, facilities management, financial management, information technology, and organizations and human capital. Numbered among its clients are Department of Defense organizations and civil agencies, such as the Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Postal Service.
