EventsMr. William Woods to Speak to LMI Staff
McLean, Virginia, April 20, 2005—Mr. William Woods will be the inaugural speaker in the LMI Research Institute’s Distinguished Speaker program. In his speech, “Steep Challenges, Creative Solutions: A GAO Perspective on Federal Acquisition Management,“ Mr. Woods will examine a variety of major federal acquisition issues. The Distinguished Speaker Program is designed to bring senior government officials to LMI to share their thinking on critical issues facing federal managers.
Mr. Wood is Director of the U.S. Government Accountability Office’s Acquisition and Sourcing Management Team. In that capacity, he oversees GAO reviews of contracting activities at defense and civilian agencies. He also has served as Project Director of the Commercial Activities Panel, which Congress commissioned to review the government’s procedures for determining whether commercially available services should be performed by federal workers or contractors. Before assuming his current position, Mr. Woods was Assistant General Counsel in GAO’s Office of General Counsel.
Mr. Woods is a 1973 graduate of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He also has a JD from the University of Baltimore School of Law and a Master of Law from the Georgetown University Law Center.
