archivesLMI and Employees Donate More Than $10,000 to Children’s Hospital Annual holiday potluck luncheon raises funds
McLean, Virginia, January 8, 2004—LMI, a private, nonprofit corporation dedicated to improving public-sector management, today announced that it, and its employees, has donated $10,949 to Children’s Hospital in Washington, DC.
Every holiday season since 1989, LMI employees have held a potluck luncheon to raise money for Children’s Hospital. They look forward to the event with hearty appetites, and organizers always get an overwhelming response to their “call for cooks” and other volunteers. This year was no exception: 150 employees brought their most delicious dishes, including salads, entrees, casseroles, side dishes, breads, and desserts. Volunteers ultimately served more than 300 employees, family members, and friends. To feast on the amazing food, the eager gourmands donated to Children’s Hospital.
Luncheon organizers collected $7,249 for the privilege of eating the food that LMI employees cooked. Traditionally, LMI buys a holiday gift for each staff member. This year, however, the staff asked that $2,700 of the funds usually spent for holiday gifts be donated to Children’s Hospital. In addition, the LMI Charity Committee approved a $1,000 gift, so altogether LMI donated the tidy sum of $10,949.
