Washington, DC, July 15, 2005—John Handy, program director of our health systems management group, retired after serving 32 years in the Air Force. He retired with the rank of Major General.
John’s last Air National Guard assignment was mobilization assistant to the director of the Defense Contract Management Agency, where he oversaw the reserve component support to DCMA and served as an advisor to the director and other members of DCMA’s senior management team. Prior to joining DCMA, John was deputy commanding general, air, in the District of Columbia National Guard. In that position, he was responsible for the unit’s two flying units: a combat communication squadron and a weather flight. Previous assignments included a variety of staff and civil engineering positions.
An LMI employee since 1982, John initially joined our facilities group after 8 years in the Air Force as a civil engineering officer. Following several highly successful contracting, distribution, and healthcare projects for clients, he was promoted to program director for health systems management studies in the late 1980s. Since that time, John and his staff have been instrumental in many groundbreaking healthcare projects for such clients as Department of Defense, Department of Veterans Affairs, and Health Care Financing Administration.
John has a BS in industrial engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology and an MS in engineering administration from George Washington University.
