newsLMI Participates in DoD’s Force Health Protection Conference Employees host information booth and make presentation
Louisville, KY, August 9-12, 2005—LMI was well represented at the recent Force Health Protection Conference. Steve Stone, program director of our Energy and Environment group, and John Yasalonis, manager of our preventive medicine program, hosted the LMI booth throughout the conference. In addition, John and Major Scott Mower, USA, who just completed a year at LMI through the Army’s Training with Industry Program, presented a paper entitled: “The Primary Health Asset Staging Tool and the Process of Identifying Critical DoD Preventive Medicine Infrastructure.”
The conference, which was hosted by the U.S. Army Center for Health Promotion and Preventive Medicine, brings together experts from the military, industry, and academia in the areas of environmental health, occupational and preventive medicine, and health promotion. Its purpose is to exchange information on the latest technologies and methods for improving USACHPPM medical support to our combat forces and the military managed-care system.
Steve joined LMI in 1997. He has a BS in civil engineering from the University of Arkansas, and an MS in environmental engineering and an MPH in environmental health, both from the University of Minnesota. John, an LMI employee since 1996, has a BS in business and an MS in environment science, both from Drexel University. Before coming to LMI in 2004, Major Mower served as the detachment commander of the 223rd Medical Detachment (Preventive Medicine) at Fort Carson, CO, from where he was deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003. He has a BS in chemical engineering from Penn State University and an MS in public health from the University of South Florida.
