NEWSMichelle M. Kordell Promoted to Program Manager Will manage LMI’s work on the aging weapon systems program for DLA
MCLEAN, Va., August 13, 2007—Adm. Donald L. Pilling, CEO of LMI, announced the promotion of Michelle M. Kordell to Program Manager in the Logistics Analysis group. Ms. Kordell will manage theDefense Logistics Agency Aging Systems Partnership. This R&D program involves a team of contractors, led by LMI, that includes OEMs, manufacturers, technology providers, and academia. At any one time, the program has 10-15 active projects with another 10-15 in planning. Topics range from sustaining engineering to inventory management to procurement. Successes include development of a "peak policy" approach to infrequently-demanded item management and a class-change process for 400 aircraft knobs.
Ms. Kordell came to LMI in 1998 from Quantum Research International, where she was a senior systems engineer. She has more than 18 years’ experience advising private-sector and defense clients on acquisition and sustainment, including test and evaluation, cooperative development, logistics analysis, and program management. At LMI, she has supported DLA, the Office of the Secretary of Defense, the Defense Standardization Program Office, the U.S. Coast Guard, and the U.S., French, British, and German armies in acquisition and logistics for weapon system sustainment, product data management, knowledge management, integrated digital environments, inventory management, contractor logistics support, contracting incentives, requirements development, and communications interoperability.
Ms. Kordell has a bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering from Arizona State University and a master’s degree in international relations from The Johns Hopkins University. LMI is a not-for-profit government consulting firm established in 1961 at the behest of Secretary of Defense Robert S. McNamara. Best known for its logistics expertise, LMI’s work now includes acquisition, facilities management, financial management, information technology, and organizations and human capital.
