McLean, VA., February 10, 2009—The Honorable Kenneth J. Krieg, former Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics, recently joined LMI’s Board of Trustees. LMI is a not-for-profit strategic consultancy supporting the federal government.
As the Under Secretary of Defense (AT&L) from 2005 until his retirement in 2007, Mr. Krieg had overall responsibility for DoD’s acquisition system, research and development, advanced technology, developmental test and evaluation, logistics, installation management, military construction, procurement, and environmental security. Before his appointment as the USD (AT&L), Mr. Krieg served as Special Assistant to the Secretary of Defense and Director for Program Analysis & Evaluation. In that capacity, he led an organization that advised the Secretary of Defense on defense systems, programs, and investment alternatives.
Before joining DoD, Mr. Krieg was Vice President and General Manager, Office and Consumer Papers Division, International Paper. He also held marketing and sales positions, and participated extensively in the merger of three paper companies into International Paper. Mr. Krieg has a BA degree in history from Davidson College and a graduate degree in public policy from the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University.
