Bill Smith Elected to Young Marines Board of Directors
McLean, VA., March 3, 2009—Bill Smith, a member of LMI’s Operational Logistics Group, was recently elected to the Board of Directors of the Young Marines, a non-profit youth education and service program.
The Young Marines is a non-profit 501(c)(3) youth education and service program for boys and girls, ages 8 through high school. It has more than 300 units with 11,700 members and 3,400 adult volunteers in 46 states, the District of Columbia, Germany, Japan, and affiliates in a host of other countries. Each unit is a community-based program that focuses on character building and leadership, and promotes a healthy, drug-free lifestyle. The Young Marines is the focal point for the U.S. Marine Corps' youth Drug Demand Reduction efforts.
Bill Smith, a retired Marine Corps officer, joined LMI in 2004. He has a BBA in finance from the University of Texas, an MBA from Averett University, and an MA in national security and strategic studies from the Naval War College.
