CLIENTS AND SOLUTIONS
Army LSS PMO—Rendering Comprehensive Support
LMI is furnishing staff members to support and advise the Army Lean Six Sigma (LSS) program management office (PMO). This support includes full-time black belts (BBs) who help manage PMO integration, information technology, and curriculum. As members of the Army PMO team, they support actions involved with the integration, implementation, documentation, and achievement of the LSS deployment objectives. LMI expertly advised on configuration control of LSS software tools, PowerSteering and Minitab, and helped the Army ensure that these tools meet the needs of its users and Army leadership. Our staff assisted in the establishment and deployment of a curriculum review board for the Army LSS program of instruction. We provided BBs to coach and mentor other BBs, green belts, and other Army personnel, including recent LSS trainees. They also facilitate project execution in support of the Army LSS program and advise on tool usage, key LSS concepts, and best practices to optimize the benefits realized.
Navy N1—Supporting LSS Implementation
LMI is supporting the Navy N1 with on-site certified LSS BB support with reach back to LMI Master BB support. Our BB support is provided on-site 2 or 3 days a week to assist in the development of LSS policy and implementation, management of BB-level projects, and mentoring and coaching of the green belts internal to N1 and Manpower, Training, and Education. To facilitate continuing education and competence in the LSS tool set, we provide monthly training in green belt skills to green belts, and the LMI MBB is available on approval of BB-level projects and other high-level statistical verification.
OSD—Designing and Implementing CPI
LMI provides analytical and programmatic support to the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) in several key areas of continuous process improvement (CPI) design and implementation. We deliver key elements of the overall Department of Defense (DoD) CPI program implementation and published a comprehensive CPI Transformation Guidebook in May 2006. This document describes strategies and plans to broaden and accelerate CPI application throughout DoD. LMI supports OSD oversight and facilitation activities—driven by Deputy Secretary of Defense policy guidance and the Quadrennial Defense Review—to improve productivity and reduce the cost of combat capability within OSD, the military services, and defense agencies. LMI is also designing and facilitating the CPI program rollout within a major OSD organization: Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics (AT&L). In this role, LMI LSS BB and MBB personnel provide various services, including program and policy development, project monitoring, training, and deployment advice.
