Security solutions for government leaders.

An organization’s security environment is dynamic: new threats constantly emerge and new solutions to meet them are continuously developed. LMI helps government organizations monitor, prioritize, and effectively manage their risks to create an optimal level of security based on mission priorities and resource constraints.

An enterprise approach to a multi-dimensional challenge

LMI understands that cybersecurity is a corporate governance issue—it crosses traditional functional boundaries and requires strategy and support from the highest levels of leadership. LMI helps government organizations develop effective policies and plans for driving cybersecurity through all levels of the organization. We take an enterprise-level perspective, applying the Risk Management Framework (RMF) to identify and mitigate security weaknesses, not only in the infrastructure and application layers, but also within business processes and employee practices.

LMI supports numerous government clients including the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) on projects to build the groundwork for increased cybersecurity across the federal government and various private sectors, reduce system operational risks, and increase our border security.

Setting the standard for cybersecurity

For DHS, we partnered with the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) and the Retail Cyber Intelligence Sharing Center (R-CISC) to create the Information Sharing and Analysis Organization Standards Organization (ISAO SO). The ISAO SO is improving the nation’s cybersecurity posture by bringing together industry, government, and academia to develop and help implement voluntary standards and guidelines for making actionable cyber threat intelligence and incident response support available nationwide. These standards and guidelines are forming the basis for the development of a robust ecosystem that will make time-sensitive cyber defense information available to any community of interest, dramatically improving the ability of state and local governments, small businesses, non-profits, and others to defend themselves in an increasingly hostile cyber environment. We believe this new level of information sharing will improve cybersecurity both here in the United States and around the world.

For CMS, LMI provided information security support for the Center for Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight (CCIIO). We developed cybersecurity documentation for the Analyzer Review tool used to support the CCIIO health plan review process, including the system security plan, business continuity plan, risk assessment, and other documentation. LMI was granted an Authority to Operate (ATO) by CMS after successfully completing an independent security audit.

For CBP, LMI is providing cybersecurity support for the Non-Intrusive Inspection (NII) program, which checks vehicles for hazardous and radioactive materials at our key border crossings.
