Alan is a project leader for LMI on a diverse range of safety, occupational health, and environmental management efforts. He has over 35 years of experience in identifying and quantifying the risks posed by safety, health, and environmental hazards as well as evaluating and developing policies and procedures designed to manage risks. He has worked as a program manager at facility- and headquarters-level organizations and as a technical and management consultant.
Al joined LMI in 2001 after a 22-year career in the U.S. Army. During that time, he worked as a staff officer in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Army (Installations, Energy and Environment), as a director for environmental health engineering at the U.S. Army Center for Health Promotion and Preventive Medicine (now the U.S. Army Public Health Center), and as a project manager for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He also served as director of risk management for Fort Detrick (MD) with management responsibility for safety, health, environmental, and emergency services.
Al holds a master’s in environmental engineering from the University of North Carolina and a bachelor’s in mechanical engineering from Cornell University. He is a licensed professional engineer and certified as a safety professional, industrial hygienist, and project management professional.
