This year brought continued change and uncertainty on a variety of fronts: COVID-19 significantly affected our nation and the world, shifts in the global balance of power ignited a renewed focus on our nation's strategic competitors, and our nation's 20-year conflict in Afghanistan ended. Our federal government customers entrusted LMI with helping our nation's public servants navigate these challenges and more through innovative solutions, as we have for over six decades. Employees proudly serve our customers and the company, voting LMI the top place to work in the DC-area in a Washington Post survey of more than 3,000 companies. This report highlights the impact our colleagues made in each of our market areas this year, demonstrating our commitment to serving our federal government customers for decades to come.
COVID-19 upended the world, but the upheaval only pushed LMIers to innovate resilient solutions at an accelerated pace. We helped our customers navigate the uncertainties of the pandemic to serve their missions, which often encompassed federal pandemic response activities. Despite the disruption to normal business operations, internally and for our customers, LMI provided more than job security; we continued to grow our workforce. Our sterling reputation and strong and steady financial performance have allowed us to maintain our historical client base while expanding our services and growing in targeted areas.
In 2014, LMI continued to help our government clients make the improvements in policy and practice that will allow them to fulfill their missions with greater impact. In the process, we improved our own performance as well.
