After losing his son in the Iraq war in 2006, Eric Herzberg became involved in the Fallen Heroes Project, an organization that provides free-of-charge, custom portraits of fallen heroes to their families drawn by internationally acclaimed portrait artist Michael Reagan. LMI stepped in to support Eric, his family, and the mission of the Fallen Heroes Project by sponsoring and hosting the Fallen Heroes Project website. Achieving mission success is what makes Eric proud to be part of LMI.

Today, Eric is part of a team whose mission is to build a new capability—the Holistic Approach to Logistics and Operations (HALO). As a prescriptive decision support tool for internal and external customers, HALO integrates multiple data systems and capabilities to help every weapon system achieve its target effectiveness rate at the lowest cost. Using effectiveness and efficiency metrics, HALO can measure sustainment efforts as applied to all 424 weapon systems types in the Department of Defense. Eric’s expertise in diagnosing and prescribing remedies to improve those systems is one reason he was selected as a fellow in 2019.

“As a fellow, I help solve problems using big data in new and innovative ways,” Eric says. In his role, he can also focus on the charitable organizations that are important to him, continuing to support the community.

LMI’s Fellows Program offers a platform and voice to a select group of people who are recognized as national, and in some cases, international thought leaders. It also gives its fellows a chance to hone and further develop their expertise, reach, and influence by interacting with other experts in their fields.
