As part of LMI’s ongoing support to OUSD(A&S), materiel readiness experts and strategic communications professionals are working closely with the COVID-19 Joint Acquisition Task Force (JATF). Ellen Lord, under secretary of defense for acquisition and sustainment, established the task force to coordinate interagency requests for medical resources essential to pandemic response activities. The task force “will coordinate and prioritize execution of authorities, connect supply with demand, and communicate across [the Department of Defense] and with industry,” according to a JATF fact sheet.
LMI also devised a communications plan to help the JATF synchronize messaging to suppliers about the acquisition needs of the Federal Emergency Management Agency and Department of Health and Human Services.
In addition, LMI’s strategic communications team created and manages the COVID-19 executive data repository, which A&S senior leadership uses to catalog memos, action trackers, and other official artifacts of the COVID-19 response. The team generates a daily status report of workforce and supply chain data for the deputy secretary of defense for acquisition and sustainment.
