Cosmo DiMaggio III leads LMI’s corporate strategy and planning, aligning technology and innovation initiatives, partnerships, investments, and acquisitions to strengthen LMI’s capabilities and client support. Prior to LMI, Cos was founder and CEO of The Tauri Group, a science and engineering–based professional services firm focused on homeland security and national defense. LMI acquired The Tauri Group in February 2019.
Cos has established and led private-sector and nonprofit organizations for over 35 years. Prior to The Tauri Group, he led national security teams at DynCorp, Futron, System Planning Corporation, and SRA, providing analytical and advisory support to arms control, intelligence, emergency preparedness, and missile defense programs. Cos also served as a senior analyst at the Congressional Research Service, where he consulted for members of Congress and drafted legislation to address complex issues associated with President Reagan’s Strategic Defense Initiative.
The architect of two post-9/11 concepts for early detection of and response to biological attacks, Cos has consulted on the formulation of a national biodefense strategy, the future of biodetection systems, and the creation of a national investment framework for biodefense.
Cos serves as vice-chair of the Homeland Security & Defense Business Council’s Board of Directors and board chairman of the Metropolitan School of the Arts. He holds bachelor’s (planetary geology) and master’s (public policy analysis) degrees from the University of Rochester.
