Dr. Linda Bixby is LMI’s lead for Academic Programs, reporting to the chief strategy and technology officer. As a part of the LMI Research Institute (LRI), Academic Programs facilitates formal working relationships with universities across the U.S., bringing industry and academia together to spur innovation and explore groundbreaking research to support the U.S. government. Linda has supported the U.S. government and academia for more than 25 years in executive, management, operational, technical, and analytical positions.
She previous served as the LMI vice president for the Intelligence Community, leading a team dedicated to expanding LMI’s services and capabilities throughout the intelligence community, homeland security, federal law enforcement, and diplomatic agencies to resolve some the U.S. government’s toughest challenges.
Prior to joining LMI, Linda served in the U.S. government, as an executive at a Fortune 500 company, and as vice president of operations at a small, woman-owned business. She is a former associate professor and scholar in residence on the faculty at American University. Her publications and academic contributions include Domestic Danger, In Pursuit of Justice, Learning from History, and War-Time Slave and Forced Labor. She is the recipient of numerous U.S. government commendations.
Linda is a member of the Advisory Committee and vice chair of the Acquisition Management Council for the Intelligence and National Security Alliance, and an active member of AFCEA International and the National Defense Industrial Association. She earned a doctorate in history and completed her master’s program in history and Soviet studies at the Freie Universität Berlin. She obtained bachelor’s degrees in communications and German studies from the University of Arizona, and she is a certified Project Management Professional.
