
Tovey Bachman has more than 20 years of experience in mathematical modeling and analysis of complex systems. He invented Peak Policy for managing items with sporadic demand, winning the 2005 Military Operations Research Society’s Barchi Prize. Tovey was the lead developer of the Next Generation Inventory Model for managing items with frequent but highly variable demand. His team’s PNG solution won the Best Logistics Strategy award at Defense Logistics 2014 and was a finalist for both the 2015 INFORMS Franz Edelman award and the 2013 CSCMP Supply Chain Innovation award. He earned a doctorate in mathematics from the University of Michigan and a bachelor’s in mathematics from Reed College.

Dr. Tovey Bachman joined LMI 30 years ago to apply a fresh perspective to solving our government’s most difficult and long-standing problems. As an operations research systems analysis fellow, Tovey identifies and defines client problems accurately, rather than applying formulaic solutions.
