LMI Funds Five Scholarships for Student Veterans

August 31, 2016

To commemorate LMI’s 55th anniversary, the consulting firm is partnering with Student Veterans of America (SVA) to award five $10,000 academic scholarships to military veterans who are pursuing a college or university degree. This investment in scholarships for student veterans is through a new partnership with SVA, a nonprofit with more than 1,300 chapters representing over 500,000 veterans in higher education.

“We at LMI know that veterans are valuable additions to our workforce. Nearly 40 percent of our employees have served,” said Jeff Bennett, COO of LMI. “SVA provides veterans with the resources and support needed to succeed in higher education and their careers, so this is a smart investment for us.”

The commemorative scholarships reinforce the company’s commitment to prepare veterans for meaningful careers at LMI. The scholarships will help to create opportunities for veterans to pursue degrees in fields of study that lead to continued service.

The scholarship criteria require candidates to submit proof of enrollment at an accredited U.S. institution of higher learning, proof of military service, a current resumé, and answers to three essay questions about leadership and service. To be considered for an LMI Student Veterans Scholarship, all required materials must be submitted and/or received no later than November 4, 2016.

LMI will celebrate 55 years of service on October 4, 2016. To mark this milestone, the company has planned a year of activities to herald LMI’s impact within government and our communities.  In addition to the scholarships, the firm will provide employees community service hours to make an impact during the workday in celebration of the 55 years of impact LMI has achieved working on some of the government’s most difficult challenges.

“As we celebrate our anniversary, we are not only reflecting on more than a half-century of service to our clients and communities; we’re doubling down on our investments and our core value — service,” said Nelson Ford, president and CEO of LMI.
