Kristen Cheman

As senior vice president of digital & analytic solutions, Kristen combines subject matter expertise and leading-edge technologies to bring the best ideas and digitally enabled services to our customers. She leads a dynamic team of data engineers, data analysts, data scientists, software developers and testers, cloud and platform engineers, and cybersecurity subject matter experts. Her vision and dedication to pushing the boundaries of innovation continue to position LMI at the forefront of digital transformation. 

Kristen was a finalist for the Franz Edelman Award (the “Super Bowl of Operations Research”) and named a Franz Edelman Laureate in 2015 for her work on risk-based inventory management algorithms for traditionally unforecastable items. She was also awarded WashingtonExec’s 2022 Pinnacle Award for Artificial Intelligence Industry Executive of the Year, Private Companies.

Kristen came to LMI from Capital One, where she developed artificial intelligence and machine learning strategies for the bank. She also brings commercial software experience from MathWorks, where she developed marketing strategies, established sponsored research programs with academia, and led predictive modeling competitions. In a prior assignment at Lockheed Martin, Kristen was a member of the rotational assignment Engineering Leadership Development Program for growing strategic technical leaders. She developed mid-frequency active sonar signal processing algorithms within an open architecture for ballistic missile submarines.

In addition to Kristen’s exemplary leadership at LMI, she gives back. She launched and is an executive sponsor for LMI’s early career professionals employee resource group and serves on the board of Girls on the Run of Northern Virginia.

Kristen has earned three math and engineering degrees: a bachelor’s in mathematics from Allegheny College, a master’s in applied mathematics from North Carolina State University, and a master’s in systems engineering from the University of Virginia. She also has a certificate in leadership coaching.
