Brant Horio

Brant Horio leads and develops a large team of data scientists, operations researchers, and computational modelers. He heads the development of capabilities and data science strategy for the evolving technology landscape of artificial intelligence, machine learning, cloud, DevOps, ModelOps, as-a-service technologies, and the democratization of data science. Brant has two decades of experience in the application of operations research, data science, computational simulation and mathematical modeling, systems engineering, and concepts from complexity science and computational social science. Prior to this role, Brant was a consultant with LMI where he served as a researcher and project lead for analytic teams for the government, including as a principal investigator for research with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). Brant led the development of a large-scale, agent-based simulation model that used a systems-of-systems perspective for evaluating NASA’s aviation policy effects on the commercial airline industry. Brant also served the U.S. Postal Service and a major commercial airline as an operations researcher and modeling and simulation engineer, using discrete-event simulation models to optimize enterprise resources under operational constraints.

Brant holds a bachelor’s in systems engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and a master’s in operations research from George Mason University. He is in the dissertation phase of his doctorate in computational social science at George Mason University.
