Ms. Disbrow, a board member since June 2018, was elected chair in August 2021. She has 32 years of civilian and military service in national security processes. She served as the 25th Under Secretary of the Air Force from January 2015 through June 2017. Following the 2017 presidential inauguration and before confirmation of the new Air Force Secretary, she was Acting Secretary of the Air Force and the Secretary of Defense’s Principal DoD Space Advisor.
Prior to these positions, she was the Senate-confirmed Financial Management & Comptroller of the Air Force and the Vice Director of the Joint Staff J-8 Directorate, where she advised the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the Joint Requirements Oversight Council. She served on the National Security Council staff at the White House from 2006 to 2007, contributing to major policy issues across the federal government. As a senior systems engineer at the National Reconnaissance Office, she developed requirements and programs to improve national intelligence support to deployed users.
Ms. Disbrow served for more than 23 years in Air Force (active and reserve) in ops and signals/electronic intelligence, programming, and plans. She deployed in Desert Storm/Southern Watch and retired as a Colonel.
Ms. Disbrow holds a master’s in national security strategy from National War College, a master’s in international affairs from George Washington University, and a bachelor’s in foreign affairs from University of Virginia.
