Employee Spotlight: Meet Jordan Hefferan
Solution, Defense, Logistics, Innovation at LMI, DoD Supply ChainHow long have you been with LMI?
I am excited to have recently celebrated my one-year anniversary with LMI (February 2022). Prior to LMI, I spent the last 10 years with large and small software companies, developing industrial-grade software applications. I held various roles in product development, operations, and engineering. Before that, I worked in commercial lending in variety of analytical and client-facing roles, including starting a new commercial lending department and building a new loan portfolio with small businesses and the lower-middle market.
What are you responsible for as a product portfolio manager for the Forge™ at LMI?
My team, Forge™ Engage, brings LMI innovations to the customers who need them. We invest in the right technology areas through our Forge™ rapid prototyping product development capabilities, then deliver those solutions to agencies—launching solutions, engaging with customers, and scoping use cases for pilots and proofs of concept. I own the innovation cycle for several logistics technology suites and develop forward-thinking applied technology solutions in logistics for our customers.
What has been your role in supporting LMI’s suite of capabilities?
In 2022, LMI formed the Forge™ Engage team to accelerate innovation for our logistics portfolio—for which we’ll be launching most of our new solutions this year. As a product portfolio owner, I’ve defined and developed applications offering on-demand supply chain resiliency through LogSmart™ Supply and created customer solutions to understand, measure, and mitigate risks to contested logistics.
What has been the most impactful project you have supported while working at LMI?
Starting innovative new teams and projects produces impactful results while advancing our understanding for the next task. As part of the Forge™ Engage team, I am on the forefront of shaping cross-functional teams and innovative efforts to discover methods of applied technology that change the way users work. We tailor every solution or idea to how that user community operates. One solution suite, LogSmart™ Supply, embodies this value well by turning risk data into decisive action.
What’s the part of your job that makes you excited to come to work every day?
Two things about this work excite me: the complexity of challenges faced by our clients and the excellence of my colleagues. Some challenges are unique to the size of the federal government as an enterprise and our customers’ missions. I am perpetually curious about the nuances of these missions and how applied technology enhance their efficiency and performance. This year, my team has been focused on the challenges of contested logistics. Contested logistics manifests as friction in many forms, and we seek to deeply understand these conditions to advance tooling and solutions for logistics decision dominance.
As a product portfolio owner, I’ve defined and developed applications offering on-demand supply chain resiliency through LogSmart™ Supply and created customer solutions to understand, measure, and mitigate risks to contested logistics.
